Violent Atletico go down at the Camp Nou

An early goal from Koke was overshadowed by 2 brilliant goals from Barcelona and several red cards by the Colchonores.

Atletico opened up the scoring early behind a koke volley that exposed what has been a very suspect Barcelona backline at times this season. The Barcelona players seemed to have adjusted with a more intense and high tempo game plan and Messi leveled the game after Alba found him in the box and the Argentine slotted in the goal.

It seemed to be all that Barcelona needed as Suarez put them ahead several minutes later behind a beautiful lead pass from Dani Alves into the box as the Uruguayan held his ground and sent the ball crashing into the net.

The game might have ended differently but Atleticos lack of composure and dirty play put the nail in the coffin as two players were sent off.

First came the criminal foul on Messi from Filipe Luis. Not sure if it was intentional or not but any tackle studs up into someone’s knee like that is potentially career ending and I won’t be surprised if their is additional discipline due to the nature of the foul.

Diego Godin sealed the deal later on when he picked up his second yellow on a late challenge on Luis Suarez.

Barcelona now have a firm grasp on the league lead especially with a game in hand and are looking like they might run away with the league.
